Kau tae te wa - ITS TIME!

First time in 24 years, the day has finally come for teacher to go on strike, now whats teacher striking you say?, well it all happens in just one day where teacher go on strike to get kids better education and get paid more higher. Teacher wants kids in there class to have the education they deserve. Fact: Teachers payment get higher little by little every year. Here’s 3 reason of why Teachers go on strike.

Here a point why teacher go on strike, to give more time to teach. See teachers. Teachers say that if they write more reports for the kids then they will have less time to teach kids so like for example: Teacher could get 100% of their work done and teaching as well. But then teacher get 70% of their report done and only have 30% time to teach. So teachers want less reports and more time to teach. If they have less paperwork then kids these days could have a more and better education for themselves.

Another thing that teacher are striking for is “Resourcing for additional needs” You might be thinking what does that mean?. Well you know how us kids are still in school? We have teachers to teach us but we need equipment to work with or to write down our learning. So like if your teacher is telling you the math question and you need to solve it, What are you going to work on? Also like our Chromebooks that we use in school or like how I’m using right now, we need these things for our learning. Just like if someone was deaf you need sign to teach them and you need equipment like paper and pen to show them what you're talking about. Teacher are just asking for more resources for children's to learn better.

And lastly. I think something that all teacher are striking for is “Better pay”. It won’t be attractive to people want to become teachers when they look at the how much teachers get paid. So teacher are asking the government for better payment as teacher!

I think that this teacher striking on Wednesday is amazing, this teaches us younger kids to when we grow up older in the future we should stand up for what's right!.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEACHER!!! Who are going on strike we know your doing this for the future so us children will be standing by your side supporting you just like this Writing!!. ITS TIME!!!!!

Maths: Leilani Statistics

Writing: My steps to a Fun Holiday

My step to a Fun holiday

Are you one of those people, who think on the last day of Term your holidays going to be amazing and then.. You end up waking up at 7:30 for no reason, until you realize that you have nothing at all to do. When surprisingly three going to four days, and still have nothing to do. Well I know what it take to have a fun weekend let me tell you.

1) So the first thing to having a fun weekend is planning it out. This is important because some people are like “ Let’s do this” and then “Let’s do that” when you have like 100 thing’s in you head and you only do like three or two so the important thing is to plan it out, I know sometimes going freestyle is a good idea and is much easier. But when you plan things out, everything seems to go alright and you have enough time to do it all in one day.

2) When you done doing that, think of some fun activities, what could you do, where could you go and do you think that this is a good place that everyone would like. If you going out with your family ask what they might want to do and so everyone and get what they want, start with the little ones because there always the picky ones unless you have siblings younger than you.

3) Next thing is you should start packing, this is important so you have what you need when you going out. Packing food is very important you never know when you can get hunger or when other can. Also if your going out camping remember to bring important things like Sleeping bags and water bottle and matches, first aid - kit. Packing is important because you never know what could happen at any time of the day.

4) Last of all, have fun and enjoy your time. The holidays are the perfect time of the year - everyone gets a days off from their hard work even kids!. Enjoy every second in the holiday while it last.

So there you have it!, planning very important, finding fun activities to do so you can have some fun, also don’t forget to pack before you head out and MOST IMPORTANTLY!, have fun!. So these are my steps to having a fun holiday. Now go on!, go and have some fun.

Inquiry: Sustaining Ourselves~Leilani, Penny, Apii, Shelly

Sustaining Ourselves ~ Leilani, Penny, Apii,
Shelly
We are learning to address the factors that can affect our well being

Next to each of these scenarios write down which area of your well being is being affected
- social/whanau, spiritual, mental/emotional or physical. You might find that they affect more
than one area,

  • Going for a run: Physical

  • Playing a sports game with others: Mental

  • Going to church, the marae, temple… : Spiritual

  • Listening to your favorite music: Emotional

  • Eating fresh fruit and vegetables: Physical

  • Learning from a grandparent or caregiver: social whanau

  • Taking part in a cultural club or activity: Physical, Spiritual, Social

  • Getting enough sleep: Physical

Imagine you are part of the following scenarios. Make a decision that will positively
impact on your wellbeing and note which aspect of your wellbeing is affected.

You and your older brother have been given some money to buy food for you and
your younger siblings for the next few days. You are tempted to buy take away,
but you have to buy enough food for breakfast, lunch (for school/pre-school) and
dinner for two days.: Social, physical

You are having a really bad day and feel yourself getting angry and upset. You had a small
argument with a friend earlier in the day, but you are now really angry at them. The bell will
be ringing in ten minutes and you will have to sit next to this friend. What could you do?:
Mental, Emotional

You have just changed schools and are missing your old friend and activities At your old school you played for the school rugby team, but you have not played a port here, except for in P.E.Physical

You are Tongan, but your parents were born and grew up in New Zealand. They taught you
English since you were born so that you would find New Zealand life easier, but they did not
teach you much Tongan. At school you see other students speaking Tongan and participating
in Tongan clubs and dancing. Although you feel happy in New Zealand, you wish you could
connect to your Tongan roots.: Physical, Spirtual, Mental

Beyonce Immersion Assembly

Fresh start to Term 3, actually wasn’t just a fresh start but it was a more like a Beyonce`. Our theme for this Term was Move Ya’ Body. We thought it would just be like our last Terms theme “We like to move it” but it was totally DIFFERENT!!. Some music starting to play is that beyonce?, coming with a special guest star…. BEYONCE??

We sat down in our lines, getting settled in, waiting for our Immersion assembly to start. Everyone started to go quite, Usually we always start off with Mr Brut welcoming everyone, but unfortunately he wasn’t there, but there was two men's standing on each side of the stage, Mr Somerville and Mr Jacobson, then all of sudden while Beyonce music was playing. Someone with golden hair started running out, someone hairy it was Mr Brut.

We were laughing hard out because of his Denim shorts and his light green socks with his white singlet, he was trying very very very hard to look like beyonce his clothes looked great, but we weren’t sure what was going on with his legs.

My favourite part about the Immersion assembly was Team 2 video because Mrs Morran and Miss Moran were dancing to Kiki.

Thanks to all our teachers for starting us off with a great Term 3 start and all the hard work you put into!.

Christchurch Idea Post - Compost Theater: Leilani

Idea for Poster
Compose theater - In Christchurch central city, there could be a
huge stone wall that had a projector on it. A projector that plays
movies for anyone who wants to watch and best of all the projector
is powered by compost or rubbish. So you just tip in your rubbish or
compost and it will melt Making gas for it to work.
1. So the process will happen in like a indestructible metal burning container that can be built in a building. So.. that metal container will be doing all the work, yeps that right!. The metal container will be heated up at about to a really hot temperature and then the compost and rubbish that will be tipped in will melt and make gas for it to work.

2. Then there will be a projector that will show a movie on a wall with a white sheet making it for anyone who wants to watch movies.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I think this is a good idea to use in Christchurch, because the damage that the earthquake caused can destroy everything. While this Compost Theater could save so much money and a lot of energy. Plus!, who doesn't like a free movie theater right in the PUBLIC!
