Term 4 - Immersion Assembly

Another fresh start and another term. Welcome back to Term 4! Yep, you heard it, it’s Term 4 man time goes by fast. It will be the last Year for all of the Yr’8’ like me!. I’m gonna really miss Pt England when I leave I’ll miss every single bit of it. And I’m glad that before I leave I was shown an amazing Term 4 start Immersion assembly this morning. I always wonder?, Why do our teachers but an Immersion assembly every time its a new term. And then I think again? They do it for Us!. For there students and to be honest I I love the Immersion assemblies. Let me explain to you in the next 4 paragraphs why we love having immersion assemblies.

Being excited - eager to learn!  That’s us - that’s what the immersion, assembly today has us feeling. Some student hate!, coming back to school and I know the feeling too!. But here at Point England School, our teacher make learning fun for us. Each Teacher from each Team will perform a show that relates to this term theme which is art!. It starts From Team 1 up to Team 5. Each Teacher performed an amazing art show, it was funny, loud, crazy, wacky, creative, loud, amazing and interesting performance every single one of them. When they performed the show it just made me want to learn more and know that you can learn but learning can be fun.

The second thing is Immersion assemblies just tell you that you can have fun even at school.
When teacher perform at our Immersion assembly they always spice it up, they always put competition and head to head games, They also make movies for us to enjoy watching. In some movies, they always have that one awkward teacher which makes us laugh because he makes the movie funny. The teacher would put on wacky costumes and do crazy random moves while saying jumbled up words and pretend to fall or be scared.

And last but not least. They want us to understand learning.
Our teacher love us it’s true!. So they want us to understand to learn more so we can have a better future a better life. If we learn nothing we would get nowhere in life. Like how to count the money we need to learn math so that we can count money and pay the bill, and reading how will you drive if you can’t read the sign on the highway or on the road if you don’t know how to read. Also writing is an important for example your all the way on the other side of the world and want to write your family a letter but you don’t know how to write because you never learned or your writing a story or have to write your name but you don't know how to write. Learning is important for us kids and learning can also lead us to what we want to be in our future.

I loved seeing our teacher perform at our Immersion assembly today. Out of all the performance, my favorite one was Team 5, they told us about art is fun and learning will make it even funnier. Mrs. IIaoa was really funny because she was like the cool kid in the class and Mr. Wiseman the art teacher was asking their names. Although when they told him their names he didn't quite get their names right. Which was quite funny

There you have it - 4 reasons as to why we love having immersion assemblies to kick off every term of learning at Pt England School. Maybe you could use my explanation to help you set up something similar in your learning community.

Podcasting Sricpt

Nau mai, Haere mai Ki KPE …. You’re listening to Korero Pt England,
coming to you from Auckland New Zealand.

My name is Chastyti and I’m in Year 7 at Pt England School. Joining me today is
Leilani and she’s here to tell us about a book she has been reading.

KIA Ora Leilani
KIA Ora Chastyti

That looks like an interesting book. What have you been reading?
Well this book is called I’m Telling On You which is written by Sandy McKay
and Illustrated by Tervor Pye.

That sounds like a amazing story. So what is it about
Well this story is about a boy named Timothy who is the
eldest child by 2 years, 3 months and 16 days. He also lives
with his 2 younger siblings and his mum and dad. He says that
his younger sister always gets away with blue murder if it wasn’t
for her big brother.

What!! blue murder. What’s ‘ Blue murder ’ is it someone who murders people in blue?
No actually. It’s when someone screams, yells or complains in a very unnecessary and
loud way.

She must be spoiled then. Anyway carry on with the story.
Well One day Timothy was at school get ready for class.
Then the principal Mr Eccles arrived in class, with a angry
face. He shouts “ Someone in this school has been writing
graffiti on the toilet walls”. Then everybody gets scared.

Did the graffiti writer get caught?
Yes he did but… Oh no I forgot to tell you
in the beginning that Timothy has 4 favourites words.
His favourite words are ‘ I’m Telling On You ’.

Hmm? That’s funny because that’s what the book is called.
Oh now I get it. Carry on with the story.
Well as you might know already, Timothy used his 4 favourite words,
‘ I’m Telling on you ’ against the graffiti writer?.

Does Timothy ever get is favourite words used up against him?
Well that is the next part in the story, but I’m sorry Chastyti you
will have to read the rest of the book, to find out what will happen
next. Also if you will like to read this book you can find it online or
in a nearby library. This has been Leilani and Chastyti podcasting
I’m telling on you written by Sandy McKay and Illustrated by Trevor Pye.
For now Kakete Ano.

Summer Learning Journey: Wk #2 - Day #2 - The Roaring 20's ( The 1920's )

Hey, up to Day #2, am I a miracle worker or what, I'm just kidding. Let see what I been up to lately...

Activity #1
*Popular Culture - The Silent Movie
A picture in Black and White!
The 1920s saw a massive surge in the number of people going to the movies. Huge new cinemas were built in both Auckland (The Civic Theater) and Dunedin (Empire De Luxe).  The most popular type of movies showing at local NZ cinemas were ‘silent’ films. Gold Rush and The Lion's Cage are examples of iconic silent films. They feature a famous actor named Charlie Chaplin.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you ever heard of The Gold Rush or The Lion Cage? Charlie Chaplin was the main character in both movies. He was the main character- The Tramp in the Gold Rush. And in the Silent movie - The Lion Cage as he was chased by a deer and he went into a cage where a lion was sleeping.. there be more to tell.

----------------------------------------------------------------------- So I had to watched 2 silent movie, and write some review about weather I liked them or not, and why or why not?
--------------------------------- So the first one I watched was The Lion's Cage

Image result for The Lion cageReview 1#: The Lion Cage was very funny for me, because he was like panicking and running around trying to find he way out of the cage. At the end was crazy because I think this woman came and saw he was in the cage so then she unlocked when she came back with the key, and Charlie Chaplin, he was like running for the *hills (*Running as fast as he could) up to a pole and had no idea how he climbed that high,
-------------------------------------------------------------------- Second one I watched was Gold Rush

Image result for gold rush 1925Review #2: I like this movie, it was adventures and exciting and surprising because like, you didn't know what was coming next because it was a silent movie ( Of course ). I liked how he feel in love with a barmaid, trying valiantly to win her affections. I think this was my favourite one, I love the trailer.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Activity #2
* Art Deco

In the 1920s a new artistic movement emerged in New Zealand (and around the world). It was called ‘Art Deco.’ The picture to the right is a classic example of an ‘Art Deco’ piece. Take a close look at the painting. Do you like it?
Self Portrait By Tamara de Lempicka
---------------------
Well, looking at the painting. This look's fantastic to be honest.

If this was a rating out of 5 star⭐ (1 star = terrible painting, 2 stars = pretty bad painting, 3 stars = okay painting, 4 stars = good painting and 5 stars = amazing painting). Also with a reason why or why not.
----------------------
So the rating I would give in my opinion is 4 stars⭐. I like how its been painted, I can see those white shades that have been painted looking like the sun was reflecting on that brand new car. I also like how the lady has her hands on the wheel, it looks as if someone is siting next to her. All though I would like it if her face was happier and left the mouth side a little up to make a smile. But I like all the painting around, even the blue turquoise color paint for the car looks AMAZING!!.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Bonus Activity #3
*Crossing The Tasman

In 1928, a crew of four men flew, for the first time, across the Tasman from Australia to New Zealand. One of the men on board the Southern Cross airplane was a New Zealander named T.H. Mc Williams. His job was to operate the radio in the airplane. Unfortunately, the radio stopped working shortly after take-off and the rain and ice were so heavy that the pilot, Kingsford Smith, couldn’t see out of his front windscreen. Yikes! Fortunately, the plane made it all the way across the Tasman landing in Christchurch after a 14 hour trip.

Right now, I'm imagine that I'm in one of those plan crew's right now. I brought my diary with me when the plan, the crew and I landed. I'm going to write a poem about how I felt when I landed.
---------------------------------------------------
Poem:

Hoping onto the plane feeling proud as ever!
Closing doors, looking into the metal pipe, seeing my reflection feeling clever.
Hearing chit chatting were ever I turn
Its getting really hot in here, I feel like I going to BURN!
I hope nothing goes wrong, where is the captain he taking so long?
Oh no!, Whats that shaking I have to know
Shaking feeling scared, did I come unprepared?
Nope I'm just being silly, No really
Well finally we have landed, we grabbed our bags and hoped out as commanded
I hope I learned a lesson from this, good thing I have my friend beside me ''Chris''

My Poem!

The End!
Well thats the end of my post!
I hope everyone had an AWSOME New Year.
Thanks to Billy for the Kind comments
